A week or two ago I posted an article about Cormac McCarthy writing his first screenplay, The Counselor. Now sources say that Ridley Scott, the director of Alien and the upcoming film Prometheus, is in talks to makeThe Counselor his next project.
The story centers on “a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.”
Ridley Scott will always have my respect, but after the horrendous mistake known as Robin Hood last year I am not his biggest fan. However, I acknowledge that the man is a talented director and there are far worse directors in Hollywood. Considering Ridley Scott has other projects in the works I am shocked to see that he might push them all back for The Counselor. Personally, this all makes me think that McCarthy’s script is incredibly brilliant but it’s also a little early to be jumping to any conclusions. Either way, this is very good news and I hope this means that the movie will definitely begin production in the near future.
