Is it too early to say, "Shortest beta ever?" The Steam mobile app, which launched in a limited beta just last week, is now available for iOS and Android devices. Better still, the app's completely free! Valve is so good at giving stuff away, you'd wonder how they make any money. Anyhow, if you weren't in the beta, you can now download the mobile app from iTunes or the Android Marketplace. You could try to download it from some other place but you would fail, and that would just look silly.
But what does the Steam mobile app do, you ask? Allow me to quote myself. I do it all the time:
Using the Steam app, you'll be able to chat with your Steam friends, check out community groups and profiles, read gaming news, view screenshots and other user-generated content from Steam games, and stay up to date on Steam sales.
Got it? Good. I hope that soon you'll be able to actually buy games through the app. After all, Steam does need to make it easier for gamers to execute fiscally irresponsible impulse buys.
