Why Can't 'Zelda: The Lost Oracle' Be For Reals?

On Jan 30, 2012

Sometimes, my friends, the universe is cruel. Sure, it's still awesome even in these dark moments, but nevertheless, the cosmos have a mean streak--and in no subculture is it more apparent than among the geeks. Brilliant sci-fi Westerns get canceled, wonderful games never get a sequel, and Duke Nukem... well, we'd better not talk about that. Even the things that don't exist have the potential to cause geek anguish. Take Zelda: The Lost Oracle, an imaginary Zelda game by animator Joel Furtado. Is it awesome? The trailer certainly suggests that it might be. Is it a real thing and, more importantly, is it a real thing that is happening? Probably not. Cruel fate!

Anyway, the trailer for Zelda: The Lost Oracle, created using CGI, evokes the same spirit of adventure captured so artfully by The Wind Waker. I'd watch a feature-length movie based on this work and since I'm usually a CGI detractor, that's saying something. Watch and prepare to wish as hard as you've wished for anything that Zelda: The Lost Oracle were coming soon to a 3DS near you:

SO GOOD, right? I'm gonna go find ALL THE GENIES.
