Matthew Broderick Resurrects 'Ferris Bueller'

On Jan 27, 2012

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

If that line brought a smile to your face, then you will be happy to hear that Ferris Bueller's Day Off may make its way back to the big screen. Or, the small screen depending on the size of your TV.

In an online video, Matthew Broderick (the actor behind our beloved Bueller) wakes up and opens the window to see the shining sun. Once we he sees the gorgeous weather, he says "how can I handle work on a day like today," in the same style as his 1980s character. Then the date 2.5.12 flashes on the screen.

While many think this means a Ferris Bueller Sequel, the Huffington Post reports that the video is part of an ad campaign for Honda. In a series of commercials, set to air during the Super Bowl, classic scenes from Ferris Bueller will be reenacted by Broderick in the company's car.

Still, some wonder if this this is a way to gauge audience desire for a sequel. However, in an interview with Vanity Fair last year, Broderick said he didn't think a second installment would make sense.

"We thought about a sequel to Ferris Bueller, where he'd be in college or at his first job, and the same kind of things would happen again," Broderick said. "But neither of us found a very exciting hook to that. Ferris Bueller is about the week before you leave school, it's about the end of school - in some way, it doesn't have a sequel. It's a little moment and it's a lightning flash in your life."

Would you want a Ferris Bueller sequel?
