Did you guys play the new Spyro game last year? You know, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure? If you took one look and said, "Collectible toys? Colorful characters? That's a kid's game. Pass the Modern Battleduty 3!" thn you should probably stop gaming at your dinner table, and also, your gaming decisions are bad and you should feel bad. Though the game was definitely marketed at the younger crowd and relied on its IRL tie-in gimmick to mercilessly plunder wallets across America, it was also a fun romp and a nice throwback to the good old days of games like Banjo-Kazooie. Have you ever been as happy as you were playing Banjo-Kazooie? That's what I thought.
Anyway, fans of Spyro's latest interactive adventure will be psyched to hear that Activision's on the move, finding Skylanders domains and snapping them up like an Internet-devouring Pac-Man. A bunch of domains related to something called "Skylanders Giants" are now Activision property. In accordance with de facto game-industry protocol, Activision scooped up the domains via proxy, the usual method by which companies register domains for unannounced projects. The domain acquisitions took place on Jan. 19, and some indicate that the project is a complete game, rather than an expansion for the original title.
I predict oversized figurines sometime this year. I'm OK with this!
