Internet singing sensation Lana Del Rey made her network TV debut on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, and immediately Twitter-ers started Tweeting overwhelmingly they thought she sucked. But Daniel Radcliffe, the host of the show, is saying she didn't suck that bad.
Employing legendary British courtesy and deference, DanRad tells the British press, "If you read what people are saying about her online, it's all about her past and her family and stuff that's nobody else's business. I don't think it warranted anywhere near that reaction." Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
Of course, he was standing 10 feet away from her at the time, so he would know better than, say, Perez Hilton who chimes in, "LOL, sorry, but her voice was all over the place. She was off-key and had zero stage presence."
But, it's hard to argue with success. And Lana Del Rey has experienced it to an incredible degree in just six short months since she turned to the Justin Bieber/Rebecca Black YouTube model for viral fame. 20 million hits later, on just her signature (so far) song Video Games, something's obviously working.
What it comes down to is whether or not fans thinks she's any good. Not what Juliette Lewis or anyone else has to say. By the way, Juliette did a complete 180 by Sunday, tweeting, "I woke up singing a @LanaDelRey song! Such great haunting melodies! Regardless of my own taste LIVE she's a #FreshandYummy songwriter. Period."
