This is about film, not screen doors. Sorry for any confusion.

All 12 Sections of ‘Girl Walk// All Day’ Now Available Online

On Jan 17, 2012

About a month ago, I posted about Girl Walk//All Day a movie based on the music of Girl Talk’s album “All Day.” Now a month later, all 12 sections are available to watch online.  While the movie isn't that spectacular (story and choreography are convoluded) the music is and I loved every section.

I was so impressed with some of the places they were able to film. Considering this movie didn’t really seem like it was trying to make a profit I am surprised they were able to shoot in such a high profile location like Yankee Stadium. Even being able to film during one of the cities parades and getting their involvement was really a treat for the film.

Even though “The Girl” was the star of the movie, I have to say “The Creep,” played by John Doyle, was by far the best dancer. He was also hysterical to watch and I loved that his skeleton costume looked like it was lifted right off of the All Day album cover. His routine with the women in the 10th segment was one of the best in then entire movie and for that, I tip my hat to him.

Unfortunately, “The Girl” started to annoy me after a while. I was less impressed with her dancing because it seemed too unprofessional after a while. I appreciated that her character was supposed to unique but it was almost as if she was inventing moves on the spot. I was underwhelmed by “The Gentleman’s” performance throughout the movie and I wished he had gotten more screen time. He came off as such a skilled dancer but he never got a chance to prove it.

If I had to pick a favorite section, I would say the second one because it was the first one I watched but honestly, it had to be the 11th. It has my favorite mash-up of Phoenix’s ‘1901’ and Ludicras’s ‘Get Low’ and it had so many new dancers that I thought were some of the most skilled dancers in the whole movie. The guys doing the chain blew my mind, especially the one dancing in slow motion.

Now, for your viewing (and auditory) pleasure I present Girl Walk//All Day in its entirety.

Knowing that there is a movie to the music of Girl Talk helps me sleep at night. I wish I could have Girl Talk playing in my head at all times. I hope that now when I walk through New York City I will.

Also on a side note, John Doyle, “The Creep,” teaches a Hip Hop Dance class for beginners. Here is the link if you are interested in something like that.
