Add this to the list of awesome things you can do with an iPad that you never expected to be able to do with an iPad! Look at me. Now look at your iPad. Now me again. Now back to the iPad. Your iPad is now a guitar, thanks to the transforming mojo of the Guitar Apprentice, a full-sized electric guitar body that incorporates Apple's tablet.
The device plugs your iPad right where you strum a normal guitar--or, to translate it into geek language, the place where that flicky white strum gizmo is on a Rock Band guitar. The Guitar Apprentice's neck has tons of buttons allow you to pluck or strum individual strings to play thousands of songs. The fretboard's equipped with LED lights to show you how to play chords, riffs, and entire tunes. Ion Audio's device is also compatible with Apple's Core MIDI, so you can use your guitar/iPad combo with GarageBand and other Mac music apps.
Here's a video of the beast in action:
I checked it out and I'm pretty sure this is the same Ion that builds iCades. If so, you can count on this thing being an absolute geek joy. Air guitar just got taken to the next level!
