The train wreck that is Amber Portwood can't seem to stay out of the news. The Teen Mom star is currently in jail, and now TMZ is reporting on a letter she wrote to her brother that sheds light on just how low she has sunk. The more Amber stays in the headlines with her crazy drama, the more the discussion grows wondering just how smart it is to keep shows like this on the air.
Portwood has been in and out of trouble for ages now, with the issues often stemming around domestic violence toward her ex from the show, and now substance abuse. She was arrested on December 19 for possession of controlled substances, and TMZ reports that the drugs included primarily Hydrocodone with some Soma and other pills, none of which she could show prescriptions for when asked. At the time she also was in trouble for failing to provide a urine sample, as required by her probation. She is slated to face the judge January 27 and faces up to two years in the clink for these latest issues.
In the letter to her brother, released by TMZ Tuesday morning, Amber seems to be all-over-the-board on emotions. On the one hand, she says she's really scared and says "I'll ever [sic] take this sh*t for granted!" and adds, "all I think about is Leah and how she needs a ro-model [sic] and if I get out I can really show her what a good mother is!" On the other hand, she is frustrated that she thinks she is being treated unfairly and that people might think she is crazy. She adds, "These f*ckers are trying to say I'm an endangerment to society in my report? Really? This sh*t is out of hand seriously."
The full letter is available on TMZ's site, and it is quite the piece of work. Amber Portwood certainly has an opportunity here to get serious about turning her life around, but will she take it? It seems she still has a ways to go before she is truly ready to accept responsibility for her role in how things got so out-of-control. She does write, "I am a good person and I pray that I can change my life," so perhaps finally she is willing to put in the work to make it happen.
