Selena Gomez can rest easy now that a civil judge granted the singer a three-year restraining order Friday against a total creeper.
Said creeper, 46-year-old Thomas Brodnicki of Illinois, once threatened to kill the Disney star and prosecutors alleged that he stalked Selena between July and October.
If that doesn't send a chill down your spine, you best check your pulse.
This filing, which requires Brodnicki to stay at least 100 yards away from both Selena and her family, has been in the makings for much too long. The star first requested protective order back in October after Crazypants allegedly told his therapist that God told him to kill the starlet.
A hearing was scheduled for sometime in November but, with Brodnicki otherwise engaged on a psychiatric ward, the judge postponed the proceedings until he could appear in court himself (cause that would be pleasant).
Despite all the delays and postponements, neither Selena or her crazed stalker were in court when the judge passed his final declaration.
And thank goodness. In her original October declaration, Selena wrote that Brodnicki caused her "extreme fear." Can you imagine living with that for months and then having to face him in court?! Poor thing. The judge finally saw the situation for what it was and said that Selena had every right to be afraid and - poof - restraining order granted. Now, was that so hard?
After the rough year that she had -- between her mother's miscarriage this past December and the whole Justin Bieber paternity test debacle -- it's nice to know that 2012 is already looking up. Here's hoping the creeper forgets this whole stalking/killing business in three years time.
