Really guys? The Devil Inside has been trending all day? I mean, how good can this movie be? I'll admit it, I'm a total sucker for religiously inclined horror movies. I'm also a sucker for DIY camera work and storytelling. But despite all of these things, The Devil Inside is currently ranked 7% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Watch the freaky red band trailer here.
But that bad criticism doesn't matter because The Devil Inside has already made a million dollars. That's right, a movie that came out today has already made a million dollars. Paramount (via Deadline) is reporting that the film made $2M at midnight screeners across the country. The budget of the film? $1M.
Could this be because of the film's exhaustive marketing? Probably. Whoever was in charge of selling this movie gets a f*cking gold star because I have seen commercials for it everywhere. I probably would not have even written about it unless they had posted exhaustive clips and even had the Jersey Shore cast selling it. Plus, somehow they got Twitter to sell it.
Or maybe perhaps that everyone has been possessed? Gird your loins. The Devil Inside is about to be the first success of 2012.
