Notch's Minicraft, the pint-sized version of the famous indie smash Minecraft, has earned significant acclaim since it made its debut as part of the latest Ludum Dare 48-hour game jam. Fans of virtual crafting have flocked to the title, which illustrates the jam's theme, "Alone," by challenging players to kill the only other sentient being in the game world. Forever alone, indeed! Just like in Minecraft, Notch's miniature project allows players to collect resources and create their own tools and weapons to progress through the game. Minicraft was so successful that Notch has started working on a sequel to the game, which now goes by the name MiniTale. As development on the follow-up rolls on, newcomers to the game now have another means by which to access its tiny pixelated wonders: An Android port is now availble, free of charge.
This isn't actually an official port of the game--it's been put together by Folstad Consulting. The devs have added touchscreen controls and optional keyboard support for compatible devices. The game's available in the Android Market right now, so you can check it out if you own an Android device. Alongside Minecraft's Pocket Edition, this should help transform your commute into a wonderland of creativity, crafting, and slaying. Notch is just the nicest guy, isn't he? I hold my replica Minecraft pixel pick-axe high in tribute to the master and wish you luck in your future crafting adventures. To arms, Ologists!
