Go Buy 'Super Crate Box' In The App Store... Immediately

On Jan 05, 2012

Sometimes, when I instruct you to do things, it's like, sure, whatever, please prep your home for the zombie apocalypse whenever you feel like it. No pressure. But then other times, when I say, "do this," I don't mean when you get around to it. I don't even mean hop to it. I mean run, full-tilt, for like twelve meters and then make a flying leap to it. This is Super Crate Box, people. I'm sure you understand my urgency.

If you haven't played Super Crate Box yet, I am about to make your day and shatter your productivity. The addictive indie classic is a platformer most closely related to the old-school Mario Bros. arcade game: You control a little dude armed with a pea shooter, bouncing around from platform to platform in search of crates. You need to grab crates to score points, but there's a twist--each crate changes the weapon with which you're equipped, which may help or hinder your chances against the constant stream of enemies dropping in from the top of the map. You're constantly faced with a choice: Grab a crate and its associated points, earning a higher score and new unlockable weapons, or stick with an awesome weapon and get the baddies under control.

It's tough to explain the "one more game" appeal of Super Crate Box, so I'll just tell you that you can now snag the game in the App Store for just $1. Some of you are probably like, "What? But it was free before!" Yes, but that one dollar pays for you to be able to play Super Crate Box in the restroom, on the subway, during surgery, whatever. You can even play Super Crate Box in a crate or box, and I hear that if you do so and send a picture of it to Xzibit, you can get a free lollipop.

Beware the skulls, don't let enemies fall into the fire, and mind the rebound on that disc launcher. This... is Super Crate Box.

So, yeah, go buy it. I'm just gonna leave this here:
