Famous for dedicating episodes to music legends, Glee is about to do it again. This time,
the show will take on the music and moves of the late Michael Jackson. Although
they performed some Jackson pieces in the mid-season
finale, creators want to give the Warblers and Troubletones a chance
to cover the King of Pop. Although the episode is two week away, the
performance list was recently leaked and, well, it looks like a mixed bag.
"Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" - Blaine
If anyone can emulate the moves and vocals of this pop icon, it's Darren Criss.
This will probably be in the top three when it comes to the episode's
covers.
"Bad" - New Directions & Warblers
I'm interested in seeing an acapella version of Jackson's hits. I'm not
interested in seeing the New Directions try to act like bad a*ses.
"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" - Finn & Rachel
Any Finchel number makes me vomit. Add that to Cory Monteith's lack of vocal
talent and you have a horrible number.
"Smooth Criminal" - Santana & Sebastian
If this was a Naya Rivera solo, I'd confidently give a ten out of ten. But
since we haven't heard the new Warbler sing, I'm a little skeptical.
"Never Can Say Goodbye" - Quinn
Glee Ologist Terron Moore said
it sucks, and he's never wrong. Although Diana Argon can sing when
it comes funk and bubble gum pop, she should leave the Jackson covers to the
more experienced singers in the cast.
"In The Closet" - Brittany & Santana
Because they're lesbians, get it?! But seriously, I think these two are capable
of an amazing performance, provided they don't sex it up too much.
"We Are The World" - New Directions & Warblers
I doubt this number will blow people away, but it definitely won't suck. Plus,
it'll probably sound better than when New Directions teamed up with that
deaf school in the first season.
"Black And White" - Puck
I'm iffy on this cover, since pop isn't Salling's strongest genre. But given
the edgy vibe, he may be able to pull it off.
"Ghost / Monster" - New Directions
The glee club usually kills a mash-up, as long as the songs are good. It should
be hard to screw this one up.
"Beat It / Billie Jean" - Warblers
I just had a Gleegasm. Two of my favorite Jackson songs sung by a legitimately
talented group.
"The Way You Make Me Feel" - Kurt
Colfer proved he can hit the high notes like Jackson. But will he be able to
add some sex appeal without looking like a fool? My money says no.
"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" - Artie
We've yet to see McHale try a fast pace pop song. But as the master of all
things Michael Jackson, I think he'll shine. Now if only he could dance to
it.
