Jim Bob Duggar Nominates Jesus At Iowa Caucus

On Jan 03, 2012

Although they won't admit it, politicians love when a celebrity shows them some support. When an A-lister backs up their agenda, they receive a level of advertising they could never afford. It also helps them reach more voters (especially those 18 to 21 year-olds). People still say Oprah won the election for Obama. Sometimes, however, a celebrity can ruin a politician's chance in office. Expecially if that celebrity brings Jesus into the running.

During today's Iowa Caucus, reality dad Jim Bob Duggar offered his support and service to Rick Santorum. Duggar, along with 12 of his 19 kids, arrived at the event and spoke highly of the republican candidate. But the father of 20 may have taken his praise to far when he compared Santorum to the Lord and Savior.

"Republicans are not going to find a perfect candidate, unless it’s Jesus Christ," Duggar said this afternoon. Doesn't he know that you're supposed to separate church and state, especially during an election year.

This is not the dad's first time in the political ring. From 1999 to 2002, he served on the Arkansas state House of Representatives. In 2002, he ran in the Republican Party of Arkansas primary election for the United States Senate but lost. I wonder if he blamed the big guy for that?

Do you think Duggar's endorsement will help or hurt Santorum?
