I don't wanna be the guy or anything, but I figure I should point this out: Christmas carols are just not all that geeky. I know, I know: Most of the Christmas songs we know today were written decades ago, before the geeks of the world ascended to global prominence. Still, though, you gotta figure that at least one or two songs would feature orcs or robots or pwnage. It's just probability, people! Sadly, the songs of yore aren't exactly GeekOlogy gold--but "Rudolph the Red Team Pyro," this year's TF2 Christmas anthem? It's a geek classic. Ask Siri to fire up your electric teapot and cast Burning Hands on that Yule log, GeekOlogy, 'cause it's time to get straight-up festive in here.
"Rudolph the Red Team Pyro," as you might expect, takes its cues from the classic Christmas song about that one weirdo reindeer who actually ended up saving the day. (Rudolph, I assume, was the reindeer squad's resident GeekOlogist. Think about it!) The TF2 carol is by Thomas Truong, who has no love for the game's fire-spraying warrior. The Pyro's role in team play is definitely the subject of much discussion, and this song contends that the character is the exclusive province of casuals and newbies. Whether or not you agree, you have to admit that Truong's reverse-ode to the unloved class warms you heart. That may or may not be because it has just set your heart on fire.
Maestro...!
I'm glad Rudolph (the Pyro, that is) turned things around and decided to Medic. Now, they say he's truly credit to team.
