Before we get down to business, here, I figure I better explain what a "sweded" movie is, in case you managed to miss Be Kind Rewind. Here's the basic formula: Take a movie (or, in this case, a trailer) and replace its big-budget special effects, A-list actors, and spectacular set pieces with cardboard and gluesticks, your buddies, and your backyard, respectively. The results of a successful sweding celebrate what we love about the original inspiration while poking fun at the same time. The Dark Knight Rises trailer, like most superhero promos, is awesome, but ripe for parody--and that's why the swede masters at Dumb Drum have set their sights on Nolan's third Batman film.
Dumb Drum's experts in swede-fu earned their stripes by riffing on Marvel's Avengers trailer, so it's only fair that they take on a high-profile DC hero for their next trick. As you'd expect, their sweded Dark Knight Rises trailer uses cardboard cutouts for the trailer's Gotham sets, replaces movie stars with regular ladies and dudes, and nudges the film's villain, Bane, right in his controversial vocal cords. The entire thing's a riot, especially if you've watched the real trailer hundreds of times hunting for clues about the upcoming movie's plot. Have a look and when Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to LOL.
I think I'd probably pay to see this movie, too, and that's saying something. I hope this "sweded whatever" catches on and we start seeing sweded game commercials, sweded college courses, and, eventually, a sweded edition of Ology.com hosted by AngelFire.
