I'm not sure why geek proposals are so much better than... any other proposals, basically, but I'm proud nonetheless. What is it about the gamers, the comic book Ologists, the sci-fi fans and the zombie slayers that makes them the kings and queens of romance? Please feel free to speculate in the comments after you have a look at this wonderful proposal from comics fan David Salomon.
David wanted to propose to his girlfriend Jen, who's also a comic fan, but he didn't want just your basic mild-mannered proposal. No, David's heroic resolve was so great that he couldn't settle for a mere pedestrian means of popping the question. Instead, he enlisted some of his talented artists friends and together, they combined their powers to create a comic book proposal called David Loves Jennifer, the cover of which is a tribute to Takeshi Miyazawa's Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane cover. The comic recaps important dates from David and Jen's relationship before ending on the question itself. Of course, David had to employ some subterfuge to make the entire thing go off smoothly, but thankfully his rogue skills were up to the task. Behold the adorable fruits of his labor in this video:
That last splash page, with Jen's filled-in text box reply, is probably the single cutest comic book image that has ever been produced. I hope comic book proposals catch on and become a thing. Actually, I hope that in the future, people communicate their romantic desires exclusively through comic books. A guy can dream, right?
