A group calling itself “Run Hillary 2012” is reportedly mounting an automated calling campaign in North Carolina and New York, reports the Huffington Post’s Sam Stein.
This group has existed for years and has been among the most vocal Democratic group opposed to President Obama. They are not a new at this game either; this group’s earlier iteration was “Party Unity My Ass” (PUMA) in 2008 after Barack Obama was able to squeeze Hillary out of the nomination after a protracted primary process.
Moderate Democrats have called for Clinton to make a last minute challenge to Obama in the Democratic Primaries. President Carter’s pollsters Patrick Caddell and Douglas Schoen published an editorial in the Wall Street Journal in which they called for a Clinton campaign.
Their premise is that since President Obama cannot win reelection due to the sagging economy and his low reelect numbers, Hillary needs to capture the “Hillary Moment,” or it may pass her by again – this time, for good.
Apparently, the folks at “Run Hillary 2012” are pushing for a draft movement among the disaffected Democrats. We are Ology Politics are holding our breath for that grassroots effort to take off.
UPDATE: The dream never dies for Caddell and Schoen; on Sunday, the pair published an editorial in POLITICO asking New Hampshire Democrats to write in Hillary Clinton in the state's uncontested primary election.
