In last night's double elimination, Top Chef judges sent home the talented Nyesha Arrington. Since day one, this cheftestant has been a bad a-s in and out of the kitchen. Needles to say, I was far from happy with the decision. Off all the horrible dishes served last night, her dish was far from the worst. See how she handled the elimination in our interview below.
Top Chef airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Bravo.
Ology: It was such a surprise to see you eliminated last night. Do you think the judges made a fair decision?
Nyesha: Absolutely! I was not proud of that dish. I made everything I said I was going to do and all of those components were spot on, and the venison was undercooked and it wasn't a successful dish. I don't feel that we were unfairly voted off
It seemed like you got reprimanded for not checking on Dakota and doing more with the venison. Looking back, do you think you should have intervened more or do you think that was an unfair comment?
Well I don't agree with what they said towards me 100 percent. I mean, aside from taking Dakota's hands and cook the meat for her, there was much more I could have done. That was her responsibility. While we were prepping, we did a test loin and we determined that the time that we would cook it and that we liked it. So we went our separate ways. By the time she came to me with raw venison I was already plating 16 plates with that had six components. She just had to cook the venison, turn around and put it on the plate. It was kind of ridiculous
In addition to the double elimination, your fellow competitors decided who to send to the bottom three. How awkward was that?
It was extremely awkward. When we were standing in the kitchen I had a feeling that people were going to vote off either their competition or who they don't necessarily like. I really don't think there was any reason for us to go home last night. I mean, I agree the venison, the duck and the wild boar were no bueno. But I mean Chris Jones and Grayson had like 7,000 components that didn't seem to work. So I think there may have been a little conspiring.
The Beverly and Heather drama seemed to be a big focus last night. What was it like watching that unfold?
I thought it was one of the silliest things. Like, what was the purpose of it? She said the shrimp thing literally 17 times, it was so annoying. Back at the house, all day she kept talking about the shrimp. She was driving me crazy. But I didn't think at that moment it was a good time to talk about it. My assessment of that whole situation is that Heather likes to be the loudest voice in the room, which is fine, but Beverley also basically allows Heather to pick on her. Heather she doesn't talk like that with anyone else. I don't know if it's a personal issue or a chef issue, but Beverly should have said a few times what's on her mind.
I know you have a chance to get back on the show with "Last Chef Standing" but is there anyone you're rooting for?
Grayson. She is a bad a-s cook.
