If you've ever looked out at your backyard and thought, "Huh, why isn't there a life-size Gundam statue here?" then I have two things to tell you:
1) We are the same kind of person; your Internet High Five is incoming, and 2) You will really enjoy this video.
Ardent GeekOlogists are likely already familiar with the saga of Tokyo's giant Gundam statue: First erected in Tokyo circa 2009 to celebrate the veteran franchise's 30th anniversary, the statue then moved to Shizuoka for a brief stay before settling as an exhibit in Odaiba. Recently, however, we saw the statue disassembled and used as an impromptu playground by local children. The horror! Thankfully, Japan's full-scale, life-size Gundam is returning to its former glory, and YouTube's Darwinfish105 has given us a time-lapsed glimpse of the reassembly in progress. It's sort of like having the Doctor's-eye-view of a robot delivery room. After dueling the giant robots of other nations, moving from town to town and even briefly falling to pieces, the Gundam's back and I couldn't be more psyched. After all, if there's anything this planet could always use, it's a giant robot towering over civilization. The aliens inevitably hovering overhead will no doubt be terrified to see our protector standing tall once again. If they don't notice, I'll just direct them to the video. Hit the lights, please:
Man, America needs its own robot, just to keep up on the global stage. What say we all pitch in, roll up our sleeves, and build a huge Terminator or something? It only takes 5 minutes in the video!
inb4 Mobile Suits aren't actually robots because they have pilots. You get the idea, people!
