You guys know TheSpeedGamers, right? They're basically the Sonic the Hedgehog of video game speedrun teams, by which I mean that they are the fastest thing(s) alive. By the time you've had your coffee in the morning, these guys have already beaten Battletoads twice, ordered a pizza, fallen in love, and figured out what that ice key in Banjo-Kazooie is for. That's a Tuesday for the SpeedGamers. They're game marathon diehards, and this year, they're kicking it into high gear in the name of charity. Their latest challenge? Complete as much Zelda as possible in the span of 72 hours to raise money for a trio of charities: Paws for Reflection Ranch, Tara Sawyer Foundation, and Trent's Retreat Nonprofit Foundation. Three charities, three Triforce pieces... coincidence?
TheSpeedGamers will be kicking off this epic undertaking on Friday, Dec. 16. They're accepting donations and if they clear over $15k, they'll extend the marathon Zelda session for an additional day, which should make room for some of the more obscure titles in the series. Wand of Gamelon or bust, guys! All charitable gamers should consider supporting these speedrun champs in their efforts to make the holidays a little brighter for the worthy causes they've chosen to support. If you've ever found joy in a Legend of Zelda game, you can help spread the good cheer and keep Link in the fight with your contribution! The stream continues all weekend, so check in with TheSpeedGamers to see how far they've made it, whether they've raged at the Water Temple, and how they're dealing with Navi's insistent commentary.
