You guys, I promise this will be cooler than elementary school slide shows. It might even be as cool as when your teacher randomly showed Disney movies in the week leading up to winter break, then tried to come up with some vague educational values for them when confronted by administrators. These are retro video game ads from the 80s and 90s, complied by the time travelers of Retronaut. They'll take you back to a simpler, yet somehow more X-TREME! time, in which you didn't have to put events in reverse chronological order and throw down some seriously depressing piano jams in order to sell a game. (Now that I mention it, though, a Dead Island style trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog would be pretty legit.)
Anyway, ancient video game ads. They're sure to bring a nostalgic smile to your face. If you ever ran across one of these bad boys in the pages of a Disney Adventures, then congratulations, we were the same kind of kid growing up.
Here's Sonic, of course:

Then you've got Street Fighter II Turbo...

I rather like this one, for Mystic Quest...

And hey, everybody loves Mechwarrior...

And finally, Ninja Turtles and their various, ridiculously difficult, interactive endeavors.

Ah, the good old days. Any video game ads stick out in your mind from the last few generations?
