Now before we catch up with Jenelle, Leah, Kailyn and Chelsea, let's quickly look back at what last week had in store for the moms.
Jenelle, well, Jenelle had a very typical week. She lied to her mom, then slept in, then yelled at her mom and yelled at her some more – but like seriously yelled—and then got kicked out of the house. Oh, and the cause of it all was, of course, Keiffer.
Leah got a fulltime job as a dental assistant where her mom works. Cory wasn't too thrilled at first, be he warmed up to the idea. See, the thing was that he was afraid she would be flirting with guys, and it's not like she'd be flirting with old dentists, so it was cool.
Kailyn was doing Kailyn as usual. Working part time. Going to college fulltime. Keeping to her custody agreement with Jo. And seeing a whole lot more of Jordan. However, she's keeping that last one a secret, especially from Jo.
Chelsea, instead of focusing on getting her GED work done, was focusing on Adam and his half-assed pleas to get her back. Dude is just too cool, you know, like super douche cool. Chelsea did say though that she was going with her head and not her heart. Hopefully she knows that actions speak louder than words …
And this week, the mom's seemed to have all been thrown a curveball or two of their own.
Jenelle:
We had such high hopes for Jenelle. To be honest, the girl isn't stupid. She just makes stupid decisions. Decisions like dating Keiffer, which has now left the two to call her cramped Honda home. That's right, Jenelle and Keiffer are living in her car.
According to her, it can't get any worse than this – living in her car, not being able to see Jace and seriously falling behind in school. Except, it can get worse, and it does. It actually gets pretty violent as soon as Keiffer starts drinking.
You see, Jenelle's cool with pot, but booze? Nope, no way. So when Keiffer starts hitting the bottle, she starts swinging. Literally. Side note: this is domestic violence. You do know domestic violence does go both ways, right? Some people forget that or just write it off as no big deal. But it is a big deal.
What's scary though is that this interaction between the two – the verbal abuse, the physical abuse -- is going down this very moment between two other teens. Only thing, there aren’t cameramen and producers to intercept the blows.
Now while I'd like to make a few wiseass comments about Keiffer's hair, or his old man gambling habits, I can't, because I can't shake how a good portion of this country's youth have legitimized the actions of Jenelle, Keiffer and many of their other peers. Sorry to be a buzz kill.
Leah:
It'd seem as if everything were coming up Leah. She's got a new job she enjoys, Cory is still head over heels for her and it appears as if her daughter Ali is making progress from her vision to her communication skills. But as great as it all may seem, something's still wrong, which Leah learns during Ali's six-month check up.
Turns out Ali's optic nerves are smaller than they should be, and could be a sign of abnormalities in the brain. But the only way to tell if that's the case is to give the little girl an MRI, which means she'd have to be sedated for the second time in just a year. Something Leah just can't handle.
And to make it even sadder, Aleeah takes her first steps as Ali patiently sits nearby waiting for someone to play with that pink toy in her hand. She just waits and waits, for someone to give her what she wants. Just as Leah waits and waits for someone to give her what she wants – answers.
Kailyn:
Things are getting bad at mom's. The boyfriend doesn’t want Kailyn or Isaac living there. So bad that he left her a note pretty much calling her trash, according to Kailyn of course. So bad that mom is taking the boyfriend's side, again, according to Kailyn.
Weighing her options: living in her car like Jenelle, going on welfare (after a long talk with Jordan, one in which Kailyn admits she has too much pride and doesn't want to abuse the system, and reaching out to local non-profits that help at risk teen moms, Kailyn goes with the non-profit.
So instead of talking out her issues with mom, Kailyn has the non-profit's social worker help her find an apartment. Opening the door to new possibilities while keeping the one to old mistakes wide open, has this way of causing a really awful back draft, which Kailyn will eventually learn.
Chelsea:
Simply put. Chelsea is a hopeless romantic. And that's not a good thing. So hopeless that she's dating Adam again, but before spending the entire episode flip-flopping on whether or not she should.
And while she was busy making that decision, confiding in friends, you can't help but to notice everyone girl around her has a kid. As if it's a regular old accessory they picked up with those bottles of hair dye and hair straighteners.
Oh, and she also re-tore her ACL, which means she's going in for surgery soon. Chelsea really is lucky she has good parents.
And make time to check out those sweet hand tats Adam got himself.
