After a boring season start, Gossip Girl has finally picked up steam, just in time for the mid-season finale. I guess it's better late than never, right?
As usual, everything comes to head at a party -- this time, Lily has arranged a debutante ball to introduce Charlie. Charlie doesn't really want to go since Max is still trying to sell her story to the press. She arranges for the paparazzi to be there and break up the party by sending Gossip Girl a blast about Chuck and Blair.
Blair finally chooses to be with Chuck and he tells her that he will love her baby just as much as he loves her. Aw. This, of course, is after she retreats (AKA hides) at Dan's loft for a while. Dan thinks about confessing his love for her, but Serena knocks some sense into him. Though, her motives are purely selfish, I'm sure. Louis has yet to find out.
Nate is still running the spectator and vows to take down Gossip Girl. Sadly, he witnesses the paparazzi run Chuck and Blair's limo off the road (a la Princess Diana). Blair is "awake and responsive," but Chuck is in critical condition. No word on how the baby is (and I'm still not convinced it's Louis'). Will he survive? (Answer: Probably because, if not, I won't watch this show anymore).
At the hospital, Charlie reveals that she's a fraud to Rufus and runs off (finally). Everyone waits for news as the doctors rush into one of the rooms...
Oh, and Max ends up selling the Charlie/Ivy story to Tripp, which he thinks will help him win his election. Um, OK?
SumOlogy: A little too rushed if you ask me, but at least it wasn't boring like the last nine episodes. Beggars can't be choosers.
Grade: 8/10
