When people think of the late Amy Winehouse, they often think of her battle with drugs and alcohol. Which is such a shame, because the star was more than a failed stint in rehab. Her voice had a power that pleased every ear, and her retro wardrobe would force people to do a double-take. So it's no surprise that one of the singer's ensembles sold for several thousand dollars.
The Washington Post reported that Museum de la Moda, a Chile fashion museum, purchased a red polka dot chiffon dress for $67,120 during an auction on Tuesday evening. Winehouse wore the dress, created by London-based designer Disaya, on the cover of her 2006 Back in Black album.
Winehouse's father, who was at the auction, assured attendants that a portion of the proceeds will benefit a foundation set up in Winehouse's name that helps vulnerable youth. Winehouse passed away in July due to alcohol poisoning. Her legacy, however, lives on through her wardrobe as well as her music.
If you had the funds, would you have paid that much for the dress?
