Video game fans are among the most creative people in all of geekdom. All you have to do is play Minecraft for a few minutes--nay, mere seconds are sufficient--to discover that particular universal truth. I realize, however, that some of you can't play computer games at work, and I therefore present the trailer for Helljumper, a new Halo web series scheduled for a January 2012 premiere. The Halo fans have really outdone themselves with this spectacular vision of the series' origins. Helljumper is an adaptation of Tobias Buckell's short story "Dirt" from Halo: Evolutions. "Dirt" follows the story of an ODST from his arrival on the front lines up through the Fall of Reach. From the looks of things, Helljumper is taking on that story with guns blazing. Check it out:
Awesome, right? Awesome. The sheer love for the Halo franchise is apparent at every turn--the effects and props are spot-on, the world feels authentic, and the actors are clearly comfortable with their material. This Halo web series appears to offer a human take on major events in the Halo universe. If you don't reward this courage with your viewership, you are helping the Flood win.
