Seriously guys, can't we all just get along? A quick recap — after Milan's Camera Nazionale della Moda boldly moved its Spring 2013 shows up two weeks, resulting in a direct conflict with New York and London's fashion weeks and a violation of the International Fashion Week Treaty, it seems the CFDA is now finally backing down, allowing Milan to show September 19-25, forcing London and New York to switch dates — something neither cities are happy about.
Despite boycott threats from Vogue editors, Milan has remained unwavering since the international fashion week wars erupted well over a month ago. As WWD reports, the CFDA's new plan is as follows:
According to sources, the organization recently contacted Mario Boselli, president of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, with a proposal that would include moving its dates for the September 2012 shows back by a week to avoid clashing with Milan — but as part of the gesture and for New York and London to commit to it, Milan and Paris are being asked to agree to the second-Thursday rule for the long term.
This means New York's Fashion Week would fall on Labor Day and London's would conflict with the Olympics. Great job, Milan! Still, I wouldn't be booking any flights across the pond just yet.
