Sometimes, I try to introduce a topic artfully, providing context and background info so you get the entire journalistic experience.
Then, other times, I show you a video of a Tesla coil hat and let the wonders of science speak for themselves.
OK, OK, there is a story here, and you know how I can't resist a story. This amazing creation is the brainchild (and brain protector!) of MIT student Tyler Christensen, who made it as part of a DIY Halloween costume. The hat unfortunately exploded just prior to Halloween, but this video survives to carry on the scientific legacy. I approve of the Tesla coil hat completely and will probably spend my evening attempting to order or build one. Too bad Tesla himself wouldn't have been able to take advantage of the coil hat's lady-magnetizing capabilities! It's well known that he was a celibate scientist... celibacy was even the secret to his genius!
Also, now the Mortal Kombat song is stuck in your head, and statistics indicate that it will stay that way for 2.3 days. Be prepared.
