I do have mixed emotions about Tim Burton. Sometimes I think he's awesome (Beetlejuice) and sometimes I think he's miserable (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Regardless of where you stand on Tim Burton, you have to admit that he has a very unique way looking at things and creating landscapes original to his style.
If you haven't seen it yet, check out the super cut of Tim Burton films here.
Also, Dark Shadows.
His next project may be an adaptation of the book Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children written by a guy named Ransom Riggs (Stop- that may be the coolest name I've ever heard). I don't know what the books' about but judging by the title this seems like something that would be up Burton's alley. I mean, Burton's kind of a peculiar child himself (who else would marry Helena Bonham Carter?)
The plot is as follows: Jacob is a little boy who loves to listen to his grandfather's stories. They are strange, the stories of an orphanage filled with children with gifts- one little girl can hold fire, one little boy is invisible, so on and so forth. When Jacob becomes curious about these children and stories he dives into a supernatural world that can only be seen to believed.
Here's the trailer for the book- Yes, they make trailers for books now.
The whole thing seems pretty on point. Perhaps it is this cloudy and balmy day that makes me so excited for a dark mystery.
