Here's one more thing that Charlize Theron and I do not have in common.
Theron recently opened up to Vogue about her split from then-boyfriend Stuart Townsend in 2010, after the couple had been dating for a whopping nine years. The experience of being single was strange for Theron, who hadn't been single since her teenage years. "From the time I was 19, I've been in
relationships," she told the magazine. "[I've] literally gone from one to the other within a month." If you've seen Charlize Theron, this news shouldn't come as too much of a shock.
Her split from Townsend came just before she began work on Young Adult, a dramedy directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. In the film, Theron plays a woman who is desperate to get her high school sweetheart (played by Patrick Wilson) to take her back... even though he's happily married. Too bad Wilson is also happily married... They would have made one attractive Hollywood couple.
At first, Theron had a tough time working on the film while in her fragile state. She says of the experience, "I really, really missed it. Like around week three, I had this horrible, sappy moment where I got a little overwhelmed." But she eventually got in control of her sadness, saying, "I was in this really floaty
place. My feet weren't touching the ground. I just kind of turned to [Reitman] and was like, 'I feel like me again.'"
Fortunately, the experience turned out to be therapeutic for the actress, as it has helped her "really [find] her comfort zone in relationships."
Check out the December issue of Vogue for the full interview, including her unwarranted praise for Snow White and the Huntsman co-star Kristen Stewart. (Ugh!)
