Once Halloween passes, hoards of commercials and advertisements and Hallmark cards whore out the notion that the best part of the holidays are giving unto others that are less fortunate but we all know that's complete bullshit. The best part of the holidays are taking advantage of the awesome sales at the makeup counter, along the perimeters of Barney's, or — if you're into that sort of thing — in toy stores. Because I'm most excited to stock up on winter-friendly beauty products to fend from the cold on the cheap, I've spent a bit of time researching the best ways to get a subtle taste of summer even when the weather borders on freezing. If you read Ology at all, you'd know I've been long brewing an affinity for this poppy hue since Jason Wu used it on his Spring 2012 runway. This three-in-one punch is wildly regarded as the most convenient cosmetic. The universally flattering shade is perfect for lips, cheeks and eyelids.
Armani Beauty, $125 at Barneys
Lastly, makeup sets are ALWAYS on sale come holiday season and even if you only use two or three things (I always use the foundation and makeup brush from this Armani set) from a gift set, it always pays off. Besides, you get another awesome (and huuuge) makeup bag that'll last at least until next year's Christmas, or at least until you accidentally leave your foundation open and it spills all over everything.
