After Brett Ratner has resigned as producer for The 84th Annual Academy Awards telecast his choice for host has also stepped down. Eddie Murphy was hand picked by Mr. Ratner to be this year's host for the Oscars. The two men recently worked together on the film Tower Heist.
Ratner made a little boo-boo when being asked about rehearsing for his latest film. His response to the question involved an inappropriate gay slur and has since apologized and stepped down as producer for the Oscars. Unfortunately it looks like Eddie has followed suit and has also stepped down. First Eddie loses for Dreamgirls and now he doesn't even get a chance to host the show! Looks like Oscar and Eddie just do not get along.
In a statement Eddie Murphy said, "First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writes were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."
Here are some names of people I think should host this year's Oscars.
-Oprah Winfrey (it just makes sense, doesn't it?)
-Ellen DeGeneres (she is on the top of her game and should do it one more time)
-Rosie O'Donnell (back on television and as hilarious as ever - she'd be a great choice)
-Jimmy Fallon (everyone loves him and he would make an adorably funny host)
-Conan O'Brien (Leno would be pissed)
-Kathy Griffin (the gays would be overjoyed)
-Robin Williams (he is my all time favorite funny man - he'd be a perfect choice)
