Picture This: Cthulhu Meets Charlie Brown

On Nov 02, 2011

You guys remember that Cthulhu/Dr. Seuss mash-up from a couple weeks back, right? If you don't, it's probably because your mind is unable to correlate all its contents. Don't worry; that's actually a good thing, especially when it comes to the Mythos. Taking a look at the Dr. Seuss edition of the classic Lovecraft story, you have to admit: Combining unspeakable alien terror and adorable childhood standby is surprisingly fulfilling. That's why I've decided to share with you this latest horror/innocence collision: It's The Great Cthulhu, Charles Dexter! It might be a little late, given that Halloween is now behind us, but look on the bright side: You'll be able to buy it, along with a metric ton of Rolos and confectionery gore, for 75% off!

Featuring the gods and monsters of H.P. Lovecraft's work translated into the adorable visual language of Charles Schulz's classic comic strip Peanuts, It's The Great Cthulhu, Charles Dexter by artist Julien Baznet takes us into the warm and fuzzy heart of madness. Charlie Brown's become a bumbling Mythos enthusiast, Snoopy is a squid-faced Great Old One—even Schroeder gets in on the action with a strip called "The Music of Erich Zann." If you've ever spent time in Lovecraft Country or know your way around a Sunday newspaper, you will definitely enjoy your stay at these weird little crossroads. Just mind the Shoggoths as you enter and exit, would you? They're awfully riled up this time of year.
