When George Clooney and Italian TV star Elisabetta Canalis split last June we were left scratching our heads for a few weeks. The only cause that would come to mind was that Clooney being the silver fox he is didn't want to settle down and get married. But now that Canalis is speaking about their two years together in Questo Amore (This Love), a new book by Italian journalist Bruno Vespa, you'll be surprised to hear the cause.
During the interview, Canalis of course praised 50-year-old Clooney, how could you not? : "He the person who valued my feminine side the most," according to a translation provided to People Magazine. The 33-year-old also said, "He is one of the best people I have met from a charitable point of view."
Now, you'd think that would make for a perfect relationship. But Canalis went on to say: "He has been special for me, and very important, just as a father would be. Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this up 'til now."
Ah man, that's just gross. Because if that's the case, that feeling most certainly snuck into the bedroom, and yeah, totally killed it for Clooney. Just knowing this almost cuts his desirability in half. Honestly, who wants to feel as if they're having sex with their father? Even if he is the handsomest guy above 50.
And to settle our minds (but more so to clear them of that last image) on that settling down and getting married thing, Canalis added: "George and I never spoke of marriage nor of having kids. I don't put limits to the possibility of having them, but neither George nor I had ever envisaged having kids together. The end of the relationship was not caused by a marriage issue, but instead by our personal needs."
