After each World Series game, SportsOlogy will have guest features from Cardinals fan Aaron Schafer and Rangers fan Chris Koch.
It was the best of games.
It was the worst of games. Game 6
had all the moments of greatness that should have defined a World Series
victory for the Rangers. Josh Hamilton’s
two run homerun. Solo shots by Adrian
Beltre and Nelson Cruz. Another
scoreless inning pitched by Derek Holland.
But the Rangers just couldn’t put away the Cardinals. And now we have another game and another nine
innings of agony.
“Tonight the Cards proved that they can hang,” said my best
friend as we watched Mark Lowe give up the painful, but inevitable game-winning
homerun that evened the World Series 3-3.
As we groaned in agony, gulping our beers, we felt
speechless for the first time all series.
This Is The Only Story You'll Read About The Rangers Game 6 World Series Win
Game 6 From A Cardinals Fan: Baseball Is Perfect
We hung our heads in shame like dogs, ordered another round
of beers to forget about the dream turned nightmare we just witnessed, then
tried to make light of it. “That’s just
how baseball go,” said another guy.
“Yeah, but I don’t even know what that
was,” I answered.
For me, Game 6 more than proved that the Cardinals can stay
neck and neck with the Rangers. In a series that has given us the 16-7
Cardinals blowout in Game 2 as well as a 4-0 Rangers shutout in Game 4, last
night’s game revealed that the World Series is still up for grabs. Nobody really knows what will happen Friday
night, least of all Rangers and Cardinals fans.
All I can say for sure is that the score will be high and the drama
intense.
All in all, I’m ready for baseball to be over. I’m ready to slip back into the comfy Dallas
Cowboys oh-their-just-going-to-lose-anyway mentality. I don’t know if I’m the kind of person that
can handle having a winning team.
Watching last night’s game was like what I imagine parents must feel
when they see their child act in a school play, praying that she remember all
the lines without embarrassing herself too much. I just want it all to be over. I want to see the Rangers flocking to the
pitcher’s mound and then shooting ginger ale everywhere while my friends and I
high-five each other and romp around Waco for a while with smiles on our faces
and cotton candy in our hearts. Is that
too much to ask? Because another game
like last night’s and I’m going to have a stroke.

In addition to playing guitar for local favorites, the Sophista****s, he can be found yelling obscenities at the pub while watching the latest Dalla Cowboys season slip away. Fortunately for those around him, the recent successes of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks have combined for a far more civil, albeit exciting, game-viewing experience. He also enjoys bowling, competitive dart throwing, esoteric religious philosophy, walking his dog off the leash in urban settings, and an occasional sleepless night. He lives in Waco, Texas.
