It’s been 13 years since Scottish noise-pop veterans The Jesus And Mary Chain released their last album Munki on Sub Pup. High time for a new set of tunes, right? The band are in the midst of a massive re-issue campaign, but according to Jim Reid, a new album could be a little more difficult to pull together.

New Jesus And Mary Chain Reissues On The Way
"The Mary Chain will do more stuff whether that will be records or whether that will be tours," says Reid in a new interview with The Quietus, "We still have a few fences to climb before that happens… The idea of doing another Mary Chain album is always around, but it's sort of difficult with me and my brother; we still have a difficult relationship. And he lives in Los Angeles and I live in the South West of England. So it's kind of difficult to get it together… We will probably do another record at some point and we do talk about tours and stuff like that. It's just so difficult to agree with each other. I mean I'm not saying it's all his fault but we have problems basically." (via Clash Music)
Infighting between brothers Jim and William Reid tore the group up in the '90s, but they managed to bury the hatchet long enough to reunite onstage at Coachella in 2007. Surely they could work on some new tunes via e-mail or FedEx, Postal Service style—right?
In any case, it’s an exciting time to be a JAMC fan. If you don’t already own copies of Psychocandy, Darklands, Automatic, and Honey’s Dead, crack open that piggy bank and get to your local record store! Pronto!
