We at SportsOlogy know that you're starting the miss the NBA. It's been five months now since we've been able to sit and watch players argue foul calls and run 48 solid minutes of high ball screens. So we're doing our best to distract you with the best of non-lockout NBA stories.
So here's this: it's really fun to make fun of LeBron James. Even Magic Johnson does it.
Making a speaking appearance at Albany University, Magic somehow twisted a question about his top accomplishments in life into a LeBron laugh-fest. Magic said that the legacy he wanted to leave was that he put people to work in minority communities, then in the same breath he took a shot at James.
"There's going to always be great players in basketball," Johnson said. "There's going to always be guys who win championships in the NBA, except LeBron ..." Boom, roasted.
Johnson then kept saying he was kidding, and kept asserting that LeBron can't be considered a great player without a championship or six.
"Everybody's always asking, 'Who is better between Kobe and LeBron?' I'm like, Are you kidding me? I'm like, you're kidding me ... Kobe, five championships; LeBron, zero," Johnson said.
"I love the young man, though. I know he's going to get better in the fourth quarter this year."
But he wasn't done. He got more serious when the subject came to comparing LeBron and Michael Jordan.
"Come on, man, six championships for Jordan," Magic said. "You know that Michael averaged over 30 points every playoff series? Don't try to touch that."
Aw man, remember last June when LeBron had a chance to win a championship, but he just stood around in the fourth quarter instead? Nope, I don't remember that either. I'm too distracted.
