To put it simply, I'm a nineteen-year-old blogger with an unhealthy adoration for aesthetics and online shopping. I'll be sharing my tips, must haves, and weekly blogger girl problems as I mourn the loss of my paycheck. If you need a daily fix, you can find more of my musings here.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but if there’s one thing that I hate it’s spending a bunch of money on a costume that I’m never going to wear again. There are also unlimited parties throughout the weekend surrounding the holiday, and though repeating a costume is fine, it can get a little boring. I thought it would be interesting to put together some quick DIY costume ideas with items that you may or may not have in your closet. The best part is, however, is that none of these items would be a regretful purchase (except maybe the costume ears). They’re all pieces that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe.
Pocahontas
Outfit Essentials:
Tip: Cinch your waist with a dark brown belt to give your body more shape.
Troll Doll
Outfit Essentials:
Tip: Use lots of hairspray, and nonpermanent hair dye to achieve the unmistakable troll hair.
Basketball Player
Outfit Essentials:
Tip: Get your last name or lucky number ironed onto the back of your tank top at your local athletic warehouse, and try to carry a basketball if possible. If you’re worried about the cold weather or inevitable paleness of your legs, try layering a couple pairs of nude tights underneath your shorts.
Red Riding Hood
Outfit Essentials:
Tip: Curl or braid your hair and carry a basket with baked goods or candy inside. It can also double as your purse for the night.
These are just a few ideas, but I’m sure there are plenty more costumes that could be made out of your closet (think classic costumes like a cowgirl, the devil, or a cat). Let me know what you're going to be for Halloween, or what your plans are if you aren't dressing up.
