Remember that time everyone said Anna Wintour was doing everything she could to convince Kate Middleton to pose for a US Vogue cover? Turns out that's definitely not going to happen. Queen Elizabeth II is very displeased at the idea of the Duchess of Cambridge being heralded as a style icon. A palace source was been quoted as saying, "she would definitely not be amused, and Her Majesty is a real genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a 'tut, tut.'"
For a while there, it seemed probably that Kate would eventually succumb to Mario Testino's encouragement, but the Queen's disproval is the ultimate rejection.
The same palace source also said, "But both William and Kate feel it would be wrong for Kate to promote herself as a fashion or style icon. That's not what they are about and they take their royal duties far too seriously to, in one sense, trivialize them."
Do you think the Queen is right in expressing contempt for the idea of Kate on the cover?
