We all know how to play Super Mario Bros.--but what's the real message behind the plumber's ongoing quest to stomp on turtles and uphold the monarchy? Every story has a moral, GeekOlogy, and the saga of Mario is no different. I like to think of Mario as the gamer's Beowulf--a timeless story of man against reptile, passed down from generation to generation to be experienced anew. What can this mainstay of modern gaming tell us about our everyday lives? Artist Zac Gorman has a theory. His piece on the subject is currently making the rounds on the Internet, and I think it's just dandy. Therefore, I'm sharing it here in the hopes that it will inspire you all as it inspired me.
