According to the NME, in the past 24-hours, odds in favor of the iconic singer/songwriter’s nomination skyrocketed from 100/1 to 10/1, putting in fourth place behind Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami (8/1), Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer (7/1), and Syrian poet Adonis (4/1).
“We've seen enough activity from the right people to suggest Dylan now has a huge chance this year,” Ladbrokes representative Alex Donohue tells The Guardian, “If he doesn't make the shortlist at least there will be some seriously burnt fingers. As Dylan said, money doesn't talk, it swears. If he does the business there might be a few expletives from us as well.”
The next Nobel Prize laureate will be announced tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. CET.
Um, how amazing would it be if Dylan won? It would certainly lend major credibility to the idea of song lyrics as literature.
