We saw the beginnings of Steve Carell as a dramatic actor in Crazy, Stupid, Love this summer, but it looks like we'll see the Office alum in a bonafide biopic tragedy soon. He's negotiating to star in Foxcatcher as chemical heir and paranoid schizophrenic John du Pont, who murdered his friend and Olympic wrestler David Schultz in 1996. He's also known for his orinthology (bird) studies.
Carell just wrapped Seeking A Friend At The End Of The World
And he's finishing up Great Hope Springs with Meryl Streep
The project's been in development for four years, with Moneyball director Bennett Miller attached to helm the project and Capote scribe Dan Futterman to write it. It sounds pretty A Beautiful Mind-style intense. Can Carell, best known for his comedy stylings, handle a role this dramatic?
