James Cameron may have once been the 'king of the world' but now he's the king of all things Navi. After the popularity of his epic space adventure Avatar and with two new films in the works, James Cameron has recently signed a deal to bring Avatar-themed attractions to Disney's theme parks. The first of these will be in Disneyworld's Animal Kingdom in Florida and the development is meant to begin in 2013.
The idea is to marry the story of the Navi and their living in harmony with the already conservation-conscious nature theme park in Animal Kingdom, giving fans a chance to explore their favorite parts of the eco-friendly movie in a Disney environment.
So what will that mean? No details are released yet on exactly what the attractions will entail, but we can probably expect more blue space kitties than we can shake a stick at, more 'be nature friendly' storyline than you can imagine, and a good smattering of the beasties and critters that made Pandora so beautiful. I'm intrigued by what the design of these attractions will be, since part of the major draw for Avatar was its incredibly beautiful flora and fawna. Will we get a flying Banshee ride ala Dumbo? Will there be mechs? With the two new films already planned, we can speculate that this Disney production could potentially turn around a profit faster than you can say 'zahelu'. And who cares if Disney's already got Pocahontas attractions under their belt, this is blue space Pocahontas! Neytiri can be one of the new Disney Princesses! Go with it!
What do you think? Excited by the new theme park idea? Would you pay to ride a Banshee with some blue folk?
