Haven't been able to snag tickets to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone's hit musical Book of Mormon? Well, you can either keep waiting in line, or you could just watch it once it's a movie. Parker and Stone confirmed yesterday to Entertainment Weekly that they intend on converting their Broadway show into a feature film. The pair already has several films under their belt, two of which were made with the help of producer Scott Rudin, who also happens to have produced Book of Mormon. It's pretty convenient when you can make the musical-to-movie transition with basically the same team.
Of course, the Book of Mormon movie will need some time before it makes it to your local multiplex. Parker and Stone want to let the show finish both it's Broadway run and national tour before making the movie version. Considering the national tour doesn't start until next summer, when it kicks off in Denver, Colorado, we may be waiting a couple years until Book of Mormon is on the big screen. Until then, go see the musical, or just try and convince some of your local Latter Day Saints to sing and dance for your enjoyment. I'm sure that will go over well.
