Every so often, you just gotta put on the theme song from HBO's Game of Thrones and just rock out at your desk. Am I right, GeekOlogy? There's something about that epic medieval anthem that gets my inner warlord ready to conquer the workday in style. The original version of the theme song is definitely a classic, but the other various fan-created permutations are also near and dear to my battleworn heart. The 8-bit version? Glorious. The violin cover? Awesome. Today's Game of Thrones theme song may be my favorite yet, though--a version of the theme performed with original lyrics by YouTube's heartofsnow23, a.k.a. Karliene Reynolds. (I suspect she's descended from Mal Reynolds. How else would she achieve such lofty heights of creative geekery?)
Karliene's version of the song, featuring her own piano and vocal stylings, is quite the stirring ballad. I played it with my coffee next to my speakers and in seconds it was perfectly blended. True story! Fair warning, though: If you haven't finished the first season of Game of Thrones or read through the first book, here thar be spoilers.
Usually I trust brentalfloss for all my "with lyrics" needs, but I think Karliene has seized the Iron Throne on this one.
