Oh no, he di'n't. Jerry Lewis had this to say about the people who try out for reality shows, American Idol, specifically:

“The kids they get on ‘American Idol,’ they’re all McDonalds’ wipeouts ... They all worked there and now they’re doing that," he told the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills on Friday. "We don’t have the soul in our industry that we had when I was working in it,” he continued. “The soul has been desperately deteriorating [in] it, only because you’ve got a guy running a network whose aunt died and left him some stock.”
The 85-year-old comedian didn't just stop there. He decided to just trash the state of the television industry in general. “I don’t allow people in my family to use the term TV — it’s television, it’s a miracle, it’s entitled to respect,” he said. “We ran home to see [Milton] Berle on Tuesday night. Nobody wants to run home and see anything anymore… The industry has destroyed itself ... and we can fix it.”
Now before you think he's just a grumpy old guy, the dude's kinda got a point. There's very little quality sitcoms on and just a bunch of reality shows...but then again, the reality shows are sooo bad that they are goood. Ashley drama on the Bachelorette? Come on girl, toughen up! And Project Runway just returned too. Did anyone see the season premiere? So he could just trashtalking TV to promote his new documentary on his life and career, Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis, debuting on Encore.
Oh yeah, back to American Idol. Well, Haley Reinhart just got a record deal with Interscope so she's hardly a McDonald's wipeout.
It's ok Jerry, I forgive you.
