Roger Ebert to Bam Margera: "Friends don't let jackasses drink and drive"

On Jun 21, 2011

Ryan Dunn's tragic death has been posted and discussed in just about anywhere you can find in the online and print media, and though mostly positive condolences have been featured, recent controversial tweets by famed movie critic Roger Ebert have roused a strong backlash, especially from Dunn's best friend and co-star, Bam Margera.

Johnny Knoxville and 'Jackass' Cast Discuss Ryan Dunn's Death

Hours after Dunn's death was revealed, Ebert tweeted: "Friends don't let jackasses drink and drive," a statement that can obviously be taken for what it is, but was attached to Dunn immediately for its interpretation in context to the event.

Last night, Bam Margera first opened up on Twitter over the death of Dunn, and addressed Ebert's comment:

"I just lost my best friend," Margera tweeted late Monday night. "I have been crying hysterical for a full day and piece of sh*t roger ebert has the gall to put in his 2 cents... Millions of people are crying right now, shut your fat f*cking mouth!"

Ebert went on to confirm that his statement was indeed directed toward the topic of Dunn's death; "Perez Hilton's readers agree with me. He drank, he drove, 2 people died."

Though theories surrounding the death suggest that Dunn was intoxicated, having been seen drinking prior to the accident, bar owner Jim O'Brien of Barnaby's Bar of America stated that Dunn only had "a couple Coronas," and that he "wouldn't call it partying. We would have stopped him if he had too many drinks."

Dunn's body is currently being autopsied, as well as Zachary Hartwell, the passenger killed during the accident, so nothing official about alcohol levels has been confirmed. We haven't heard anything more from Ebert of Bam yet, but it's a matter that's sure to escalate.

Any thoughts?
