Lego Rapture is 'BioShock' Brilliance

On Jun 17, 2011

The city of Rapture is dedicated to man's highest achievements. Founded on the idea that every individual should strive for excellence, the underwater metropolis is home to many noteworthy scientists, scholars, and artists, and definitely no insane, genetically-modified cannibals. That's precisely why we think Lego brickmaster Imagine Rickney would fit right in among the best and brightest down below. Not the Splicers, mind you--we're talking pre-disaster Rapture, here.

Though he's clearly fit for an extended stay in Andrew Ryan's fictional paradise, Rickney has elected to use his nigh-superhuman Lego talents to create a lifelike depiction of the city in its darkest hour. Gaze upon the sculptures, meticulously pieced together from ordinary Lego bricks, and look back fondly on the nights you spent slogging through Ryan's sunken dream, on the run from a maniac in a dive suit wielding a gigantic rivet gun. Aren't video games great?

The whole shebang. Note our hero's downed plane, the little bits of seaweed on the ocean floor, and the catwalk spanning the two structures. Cool stuff, right? Closer views await.

Here's the plane, our good man Jack, and the bathysphere (!), close-up edition.

Those posters are awesome. This has to be the med bay. Bad memories, man. Bad memories.

If there is something Legos can't do, it hasn't been invented yet.
