The Row Debuts Handbags, Closets Everywhere Rejoice

It's been quite a busy spring for the Olsen Twins — the girls are hot off their well-earned CFDA nomination — the Swarovski Award for Womenswear — and met with Harper's Bazaar for a much-awaited preview of The Row's newest endeavor — handbags. While we've been going crazy searching for the perfect bag to carry us from summer into the transition months of fall, the Olsen's have been preparing to release the perfect remedy from their high-end lux line — a collection of "anti-it" bags, as Mary-Kate explained.

“We didn’t want too much branding; we didn't want an It bag," she told HB, and after one look at the line, it's obvious they've succeeded. Each bag is equally covetable and available at Barneys New York and specialty boutiques come July.

Made from mostly mutes tones of ostrich, alligator and lizard skin, each piece has its turn tugging at my heartstrings. The Twin Mini, a demure cross-body bag featuring contrasting skins on each side, is akin to your favorite little black dress — it'll not only goes with everything in your closet, but also instantly perks up any look.

"We wanted there to be multiple options in the collection so you aren’t stuck with one style; there’s a purpose to every bag,” Ashley told the mag. And the tween-queens-turned-sartorial-geniuses must be onto something. Now approaching its third birthday, the brand is doing anything but poorly.
